Oriole O'Neill has had a life-long interest in early American history. While pursuing a BA in Theatre at the University of Delaware, she was on the steering committee for "A Daye in Colonial Delaware". This Bicentennial project depicted a typical fair day in colonial time, and included vignettes of 1775 New Ark townspeople, craft demonstrations, and music and dancing of the period. She helped create the costumes, vignettes, beehive oven, and the pitsaw for this event. For several years, Oriole was also a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution, recreating the life of a camp follower in Washington's army.

Oriole worked in professional theatre management in New York, New England and Arizona for 30 years. She has also directed performances in Washington, DC, Denver, Las Vegas and New Orleans.

When she returned to Delaware in 2002, Oriole joined the Board of Hale-Byrnes house to help preserve a piece of American history for all Delawareans. Oriole is the Treasurer for the DSPA, Vice-President of the Philadelphia chapter of the NCGR, lives in Newark, DE, and works for the Brandywine YMCA.
